Crashing Waves
This second look from the student-led fashion show explores the meeting point between ocean waves and coastal rock formations, visually representing the boundary between sea and land. A strapless bodice constructed from brown leather symbolizes the strength of rock, while pleated, hand-dyed blue and cream fabric conveys the movement and fluidity of water. Organic leaf embellishments at the neckline reference life emerging along the shoreline, reinforcing the theme of coexistence between ecosystems. Technically, the design challenged traditional construction through wet-molded leather, industrial machine stitching, and a side-seam grommet and lacing closure that enhances both fit and structure. Guided by sustainability and longevity, the piece emphasizes strong visual flow and layered textures, resulting in a cohesive narrative that balances stability and motion.
